Has Chandler, Arizona popped up on your radar as a potential city to call home, but you aren’t quite sure which part of Chandler would best suit your housing needs? South Chandler is located south of the Loop 202 San Tan Freeway east of Price Rd, west of Gilbert Rd, Lindsey Rd or Val Vista Rd depending on where you are in Chandler and north of Hunt Hwy. So let’s dive into 5 reasons why South Chandler may be where you want to establish roots and settle down.

Reason #1 Employment

There’s definitely no shortage of high-paying jobs in Chandler. As discussed in my previous video Chandler is home to several top rated companies, startups, and local businesses. Chandler’s high-tech employment base attracts highly-educated and skilled employees, many of which make Chandler their permanent home. The Price Corridor, Chandler’s largest employment corridor, is currently home to 15 Fortune 500 companies. The largest employer in Chandler is Intel Corp., with 2 campuses in the city. Intel recently announced that it was expanding its manufacturing capacity with plans for two new factories located at the company’s Chandler-Ocotillo campus. This build-out represents an investment of approximately $20 billion, which is expected to create over 3,000 permanent high-tech, high-wage jobs; over 3,000 construction jobs; and approximately 15,000 local long-term jobs in Chandler.

Reason #2 Parks and Recreation Facilities

Known for its outstanding park system and recreational facilities, Chandler is committed to providing meaningful recreational activities for its community. Chandler is home to over 60 parks, from larger regional facilities to smaller neighborhood parks. Those located in South Chandler include:

  • Veterans Oasis Park and Environmental Center. With over 100 acres, this park is home to wetlands, desert habitats, hiking and biking trails, and picnic areas. It also features a self-guided Solar System Walk.
  • Tumbleweed Park. This park is the site of a 62,000 square-foot recreational facility with classes and activities for all ages. The park includes pavilions, play areas, and celebrates the agricultural heritage of the city.
  • Golf courses -There is a course for all levels. From higher end to beginner courses. You can find a course for just about anyone.

Reason #3 Shopping and Dining

Chandler’s restaurants scene definitely doesn’t disappoint. Local chefs and restauranteurs will share a plate full of their passion. The local restaurant scene is constantly evolving with plenty of choices showcasing local styles and global flavors. Find neighborhood favorite gastropubs and craft breweries to local coffee shops and cafes to satisfy your sweet tooth.

You don’t have to leave a 5 mile radius to find about any sort of retailer you may need. Chandler has you covered. Whether you’re looking for uniquely Arizona shops for a favorite souvenir, a farmer’s market, regional favorites, locally-made crafts, or national chains, you can find the right kind of retail to suit your needs.

Reason #4 Schools

The Chandler Unified School District is a premier district of choice. Academic achievement is a high priority in the district as evidenced by test scores which exceed state and national averages. South Chandler features 18 elementary schools, 4 junior high schools, and 6 high schools. Besides these public schools there are several private and charter schools to choose from.

Reasons #5 Housing Options

South Chandler features a variety of housing options from starter homes to million dollar luxury estates and everything in between. Like the rest of the Phoenix marketplace Chandler median sales prices have increase significantly in the last few years. The median sales price in all of Chandler as of July 28th, 2022 was $590k up from $506,900 at this same time in 2021. The South Chandler still remains a highly desirable area to live. As Chandler has developed over the last 30 years the South Chandler area is where the newer developments have gone as growth has expanded outward. Most of of South Chandler was built between 1998 through 2012 with pockets of infill being built over the last 10 years.
